One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

Nurse Ratchet believes that she can "fix" McMurphy where I believe McMurphy can fix himself and the other inmates. Throughout the entire movie McMurphy has been there for the guys to stand up for them when they're too scared to do so themselves. A lot of zoom in's on Nurse Ratchets face show how she's reacting to McMurphy's situations and scenarios he's doing. One in particular was when he was getting the guys to start playing around on the basketball court and got one really tall patient to lift him up. McMurphy was allowing the boys to have fun for once and to not feel so isolated where Nurse Ratchet was onlooking with a glare in her eyes. There were dozens of other scenes where McMurphy is trying to take charge and provide fun for the boys and Nurse Ratchet looks with such anger.

  1. RP really brought out the best in all of the inmates. He gave them the courage to talk back to Nurse Ratched, but in the end, Nurse Ratched was finally able to "fix" RP. While she was probably hoping to put the inmates back to their original positions after taking out their leader, but because of RP's absence, Chief escaped, which only boosted the inmates' energy higher!

  2. I agree with both you and Noah, McMurphy brought out the best in all of the patients, and helped break them out of their shell. His short time in the ward helped the patients more than Nurse Ratched ever could. I think McMurphy showed the men that it was okay to have mental illnesses, and that they can still be normal people and move on from it. He did this by taking them out on the boat and partying with them. As you mentioned, Nurse Ratched is often looking over the men, like in the clip you provided. I think she could signify their illnesses holding them back from truly overcoming the illness.
